SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Coffee Chat with the Artist - Vicky Dorn-Fontana
DESCRIPTION:Sip coffee and chat with Vicky while she creates art! Stop by Saturday\, March 28 from 11-1.\n\n \nAbout the Artist:\n\n"I have spent most of my life pursuing art. I started to focus my creative pursuits by attending the High School of Art and Design in New York City\, where I grew up. I then attended Hunter College and majored in art. I attained a B.A. in Fine Arts and received certification as an art teacher for grades K 12 in New York State. I moved to Falls Church\, Va. in 1978 to attend George Washington University and received a Master's Degree in Art Therapy. I have worked as an Art Therapist for the past 38 years\; primarily on in-patient adult and adolescent psychiatric units in the Northern Virginia area. I absolutely loved my career as an Art Therapist and retired in January 2019.\n\nThroughout my career I have utilized my skills to help others\, but have also created my own art. Collage has been my media of choice for many years. Creating and pursuing my art brings me a sense of peace\, a voice\, pleasure\, and a sense of accomplishment. Working with images\, textures\, and patterns allows me to capture unique glimpses into various life experiences\, moods\, dreams\, values\, and struggles that we all experience or know of someone who has had a similar journey. I hope to capture this in my work. "
