SUMMARY:FIRSTfriday at Stifel and Capra
DESCRIPTION:Stifel and Capra will feature the work of artist Eloa Jane during the month of September. Stop by FIRSTfriday to meet the artist. Also venture upstairs to the Area 718 Trunk Show of urban themed wearable art. \n\n\n\nArtist Eloa Jane notices such things as the richness of printings and weight of papers that we usually discard every day. Within her artistic mindset\, Eloa Jane began to transform those papers into beautiful compositions of color and texture. In her paper art\, Eloa Jane reuses office paper\, ads magazines\, newspapers\, phone books\, and even coffee filters not only for the sake of recycling alone\, but also in a manner to investigate how the inherited properties of the recycled paper\, such as different textures\, colors\, and word patterns can offer unique qualities for expression and design. Every piece of her work\, from jewelry\, vases\, sculptures to wall art\, is made by assembling these papers. \n\nAt the Area 718 Trunk Show\, Mixed-media artist Karen Mullarkey designs urban fusion and accessories under the Area 718 line\, a nod to her hometown of Queens\, NY. Head upstairs to check out a trunk show of her original urban-themed wearable art\, including handpainted silk scarves\, shoes\, and belts\, along with handcrafted mixed-media bracelets. Since positive messages are also a common theme in Karen's work\, she is happy to introduce a new collection of inspirational wall hangings\, peace birds\, and customizable mini prayer flag necklaces.
