DESCRIPTION:The 2020 Annual Meeting of the The Arc of Northern Virginia will be a virtual\, online event\, taking place on Thursday\, November 5th at 7:30 pm. Join us as we come together and recognize great achievements of the year\, honor outstanding volunteers and set the stage for a new year and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. \n\n\n\nOne of the highlights of the Annual Meeting each year is the presentation these two prestigious awards: The 2020 Jessica Burmester Volunteer Award will be presented to Michael Thomas\, and the 2020 Rusty Garth "You Are the Change" Advocacy Award will be presented posthumously to Doran Coady.\n\n\n\nThis meeting will also feature a Special Announcement of a new initiative\, designed to take the lessons learned from this challenging year\, in order to better prepare The Arc of Northern Virginia to be responsive to emerging trends and needs in the new year.\n\n\n\nWe'll end the evening with a panel of Virginia Legislators who will share information about their past work advocating for developmental disability support and services\, a preview of their plans for the 2021 session\, and take questions from the audience submitted in advance. Confirmed guest panelists for the meeting include Senator Jennifer Boysko\, Delegate Mark Keam\, Delegate Kaye Kory\, and Senator Scott Surovell.
