"Alchemy of Metal: Repurpose and Re-use" at Falls Church Arts
Twenty-seven artists will be featured in “Alchemy of Metal: Repurpose and Re-use” on view at Falls Church Arts from October 7-November 12. The show opens with an evening reception from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, when the Juror’s Choice Award will be announced. Artists will be available to answer questions about their process, inspiration, and use of metal in their works. The reception is open to the public.
Participating artists were challenged by the theme that required them to incorporate metal into their artwork, giving the material a second life. The diverse range of media in this show includes sculpture, mixed media assemblage, acrylic, watercolor, mosaic, and jewelry.
Forty pieces will be exhibited at the Falls Church Arts gallery, 700-B West Broad Street, Falls Church, Virginia. The gallery will be open Tuesday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Masks are optional and guests are asked to postpone their visit if they are not well.
Artworks can viewed online at www.fallschurcharts.org. All pieces can be purchased at the gallery or on the website.
The Juror’s Choice and People’s Choice Awards are made possible by a donation from Lee Design Studio, 410 South Maple Avenue, Suite 114, Falls Church, VA 22046. The People’s Choice Award will be announced on October 21 and is based on the votes of gallery visitors.
