Valerie knows and respects the tried and true ways of bluegrass and has always held fast to her rule of singing from her heart. Her sound straddles the line between bluegrass, country and alternative music and resists categorization. Her band consists of talented and seasoned musicians: Bluegrass Hall-of-Famer Tom Gray, banjoist Joe Zauner, Jim Clark playing guitar, radio personality Lisa Kay Howard-Hughes on mandolin and fiddle and Dobro player Wally Hughes. Doors open at 6pm and showtime is 7pm. The series at the park's Visitor Center is sponsored by the Friends of Frying Pan Park, Vienna Hardwoods and Eastman Guitars and Mandolins in cooperation with the Fairfax County Park Authority. Food and drinks, including beer and wine, are available for purchase. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.
