Presenter: Leslie Ava Shaw
Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) was planning on studying medicine before suffering a spine injury after a freak vehicular accident that made her homebound. During her convalescence, she became fascinated by her own image and began creating self-portraits. A relationship with major muralist, Diego Rivera, gave her entre into the international art world and Mexico’s left-wing politics.
Join Leslie Ava Shaw for a one hour zoom presentation and Q&A. The session will be an in-depth look at this extraordinary artist whose life and work reflect the pain of physical disability, Mexico’s indigenous culture, its flora and fauna, and Kahlo’s desire to love and be loved by both men and women alike.
Attendance is limited, so register soon. The Zoom link information will be on your registration confirmation.
