“Local Celebrities” to Bag Groceries
For Shoppers Wednesday, June 22
At Whole Foods Market on 5% Day
(Falls Church, VA … June 14, 2016) Elected officials and other local celebrities will be on hand to greet shoppers at the check-out line and cheerfully bag their groceries on Wednesday, June 22 at Whole Foods Market at 7511 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church to draw attention to the need for support of early childhood education.
State Delegate Marcus Simon (D-53rd), Delegate Richard “Rip” Sullivan (D-48th), Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust (D-Dranesville), Falls Church Mayor Dave Tarter and City Council Member Mary Beth Connelly will be among the “Celebrity Baggers” lending a hand that day. The event is part of the store’s quarterly 5% Day when a selected, local nonprofit organization receives five percent of the day’s sales. The Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, a preschool that serves 75 children from low- and moderate-income, working families, is the recipient nonprofit.
Shoppers are encouraged to come out to meet the celebrity baggers and the Children’s Center mascot “Honey Bear” during the lunch and dinner hours. For additional information, call Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, 703/534-4907.
Founded in 1968, the Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, located at 7230 Idylwood Road, Falls Church, VA, is a nationally accredited, nonprofit, early educational program rated 4-Stars in the Virginia Star Quality Initiative. Details are at www.fcmlcc.org or at the Children’s Center, 703/534-4907.
