Description
Dear Volunteers, Donors and Friends: You are absolutely terrific! Thank you for a wonderful first-half of 2014. Many of you have donated goods, volunteered with our programs, or shared the great work and amazing transformations of the individuals we’ve had the privilege to serve. Nothing is more valuable to us. You mean the world to us and there’s nothing we cannot accomplish together. On October 9th, Volunteers of America will host our annual benefit breakfast. We hope that you will mark that date on your calendars now and RSVP using the following link: http://www.voachesapeake.org/Get-Involved/Upcoming-Events/Harvest-for-Hope You are the guests of honor for this event. Because of you, many people’s lives are brightened by your simple acts of kindness. In addition, you’ve helped ensure that our safety net is strong. Volunteers of America is one of the largest homeless services providers in Northern Virginia. We must continue to expand services along the continuum of care, including opening more affordable housing. We operate shelters for the most vulnerable in some of the wealthiest counties in the country - Loudoun, Fairfax and Arlington – serving over 1,500 individuals and families. As we prepare for the times ahead and bolster services for people challenged with homelessness, abuse, substance addictions and low incomes, let’s take a moment to reflect on all of the good done – the miracles in which we’ve been able to play a small part. And, let’s explore where we can go from here. Let me assure you that you are doing a stellar job. We see it in the fact that the amount of time it takes us to move someone from the shelter to permanent housing is getting shorter and shorter. So, join us as we salvage individuals’ hopes for stable housing and literally give them a new lease on life!
