Joining us in the Alcove Gallery on the second floor this month is Kathleen McFall. Kathleen earned a BFA at James Madison University and spent her post-college years working as a graphic designer. It wasn’t until her youngest child reached school age that she rediscovered her love for painting. Kathleen works in watercolor, acrylics, and oils, but loves to dabble with drawing media as well. As a child, her grandmother was a prolific artist producing needlework art, ceramics and paintings which filled her childhood home. Her grandmother's influence is evident in Kathleen's focus on color and pattern, and she often incorporates words that inspire into her art. Kathleen also spent countless hours working in her parent's boxwood nursery, and she draws many of her motifs from the garden and landscape of her home in Virginia, as well as coastal North Carolina, where her grandmother lived. When she is not painting, Kathleen is busy raising 3 daughters with her husband, and works as an elementary art teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools.
Stop by and visit to see the exhibit of selected paintings. FREE, open to the public.
