Description
The Village Preservation and Improvement Society will hold its Fall Membership Meeting on Sunday, November 9, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall at 400 North Oak Street in Falls Church. Following a very brief business meeting, we will have two panel discussions about important issues relating to Fall Church.
Excellence in Design Awards - for over 50 years VPIS has been recognizing the best of new development designs in homes, public spaces, commercial buildings and gardens.
Panel Discussions:
Open Space and Parks: The first will discuss open space in the City, and the difficulties of expanding or even maintaining open space in the face of increasing development. The members of the panel will be Danny Schlitt, Director of the Recreation and Parks Department of the City, Steve Selby, the Chairman of the City’s Recreation and Parks Committee, and Rob Meeks, a member of the Planning Commission.
Library Proposed Expansion: The second panel will discuss the various plans under consideration for expansion of the Mary Riley Styles Library. The members of the panel will be Mary McMahon, Director of the Library, and Bradley Gernand, Chairman of the Library Board of Trustees.
Each panel discussion will run between 10-15 minutes, followed by a period for questions from the audience. Both panels promise to be interesting and thought-provoking, and will provide information essential to an assessment of issues facing the City.
Social with Refreshments served after the panels are finished.
All members of the public are cordially invited to attend whether members of VPIS or not.
Please come to see old friends and meet new ones.
