Virginia Dream FC Are Back In The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup After 2-0 Victory!

Virginia Dream FC are back in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the 2026 edition. The team will be looking to build upon their 2025 U.S. Open Cup accomplishments in which they earned a victory over USL1 pro team, Richmond Kickers, and a narrow loss to USL Championship team, Loudoun United, in the Dream’s inaugural tournament participation.

During a year that witnessed six Virginia Dream players move up into the professional leagues, the team was able to find its chemistry late in the year and once again get the victories when they counted the most. In the 4th and final qualifying round of the U.S. Open Cup, The Dream played away at MSI Pro (Maryland). It took 90 minutes of regular time plus 30 more minutes of overtime but “The Little City’s” team's determination and heart brought home the victory. At the end of regulation the score was tied 0-0 but as the first half of overtime was coming to an end Diarra Zoumana netted the first goal of the match. Williams Yami added the second goal on a break away in the 115th minute and Virginia Dream FC is in the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
