"Transition POINTS – Providing Opportunities, Information, Networking and Transition Services" invites you to an Open House.

 Come learn about The Arc of Northern Virginia and our Transition POINTS Program. Take home our Transition POINTS Guides including our latest guide – “Getting the Most from Special Education.”

Tuesday, July 19 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

 

Families need realistic, actionable information with which they can make a wide range of decisions over the whole lifespan of their loved one with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD). Transition POINTS provides parents, siblings and other caregivers with the information and support they need to make decisions at key points across the lifespan of their loved one with ID/DD:

–Receiving a diagnosis and entering an early intervention program
–Starting school and advocating for a free and appropriate public education
–Preparing for and transitioning out of the school system
–Securing employment and a place to live outside the caregiver’s home, if desired
–Aging with a disability
–Anticipating and handling the decline and/or death of the primary caregiver.
