1 VICTORY, 1 TIE AND VIRGINIA DREAM IS STILL TOP OF UPSL TABLE!
Falls Church, VA – Virginia Dream FC’s midweek tie and Saturday victory keep the team’s undefeated record intact and maintain their number 1 spot in the UPSL conference standings. On Wednesday the Dream hosted ASA Pro in a match up of the top 2 conference teams. The first half was a tight affair and although the Dream dominated both in possession and in chances created it was not able to convert those opportunities into a goal and the halftime score was knotted at 0-0. The second half proceeded in the same manner as the first and in the 83rd minute Virginia Dream broke the deadlock with a beautifully struck shot by Billy Arnez to the far post. The advantage did not last very long. Just four minutes later ASA Pro equalized off of a long throw in that just grazed their player’s head before nestling into the goal. The 1-1 tie kept the Dream in first place heading into Saturday’s away match against Summit Valley United.
Unlike the game earlier in the week, the team started the scoring early and the result by the final whistle was 8-0. Tobi Osifesu scored the opening goal in the 17th minute and then another in the 24th minute to finish with a brace. Ahmed El Manialawy, Diarra Zoumana, Brayden Zevala, Billy Arnez, Liam Emson and Luis Aguilar each added one score apiece. The final result was a dominant 8-0 performance for the Dream which maintained their undefeated UPSL season intact.
Virginia Dream FC has 2 games this week. On Saturday the team travels to District Elite for its second game of the NPSL season. Kickoff is 2:30pm. On Sunday the team hosts Alexandria Reds Pro at “The Cloud” aka Meridian High School Stadium. Kickoff is 8pm.
