Virginia Dream FC Advances To Final U.S. Open Qualifying Round After 6-1 Victory

On a night that Virginia Dream FC hosted the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce Tailgate, the Dream did itself and “The Little City” proud with a dominant 6-1 victory over Guerilla FC (Washington DC) in the third round of US Open Cup qualifying games. The victory means they will play in the 4th and last qualifying round on the weekend of November 22/23. Opponent, location and exact date will be announced by U.S. Soccer later this week.

Jimmy Filerman, the team captain, netted the first goal in the 5th minute of the match and then the goals kept coming. The score at halftime was 5-0. By the final whistle Diarra Zoumana had a hat-trick. Williams Yami and Elijah Amo added one goal apiece to make the final result 6-1. Virginia Dream is looking to build upon last year’s accomplishments in their first ever US Open Cup participation in which they earned a victory over USL1 pro team, Richmond Kickers, and a narrow loss to USL Championship team, Loudoun United.
