Virginia Dream FC Are Virginia Super Soccer League Tournament Champions!
Virginia Dream FC are VSSL Post-Season Tournament Champions. The Dream defeated Los Toros 2-1 to bring the Cup back to “The Little City”. The title had belonged to Virginia Dream every season since its inauguration until last season when Los Toros took home the honors. With a chip on their shoulders and revenge on their mind The Dream controlled possession right from the whistle but gave up the first goal which resulted in a halftime score of 1-0. The second half possession and scoring chances created were once again in Virginia Dream’s favor and it finally paid off when Mike Akenkoye put away a rebound from a free kick to equalize the score. With the score tied 1-1 at the end of regulation the teams headed to overtime. Both teams were fatigued but Virginia Dream showed heart and desire and shortly after the restart Cedric Tchoumkeu netted the go ahead goal. The final score was 2-1 Dream and the VSSL Title is back in “The Little City”!
On Saturday, November 22 at 7:30pm Virginia Dream plays in the 4th and final round of US Open Qualifying matches. Win and The Dream is in, lose and The Dream is out.
