Virginia Dream’s Head Photographer, Jared Soares’ Work On Display At National Portrait Gallery

Jared Soares, Virginia Dream’s Head Photographer, was awarded Second Prize in the National Portrait Gallery’s 2025 Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition. His work depicts the portrait of a man who was misidentified by the Maryland Transit Administration’s facial recognition software for a crime he did not commit. The mistake led to the individual spending 10 days in jail. 

The Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition takes place every three years with thousands of entries submitted. His work will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery until August 30th.
